1)   What crop did settlers first grow in Brazil and what effect did it have on the makeup of the population? Sugar cane and causes most settlement in Brazil to be on the coast.

2)   How do Brazil’s rivers contribute to its wealth?
     Hydroelectric power.

      Brazil is 7th in the world.

      Brazil's population is mostly Catholic and the language is Portuguese.

      Underdelevop economic, a lot of provetry, and a huge gap between rich and poor.

      Chile, because they educate their people (lietarcy rate high), and good exports of goods.

      African (because of the slaves) and European along with Native people.

                 Huge economic money maker, and makes trade and transportion a lot more quicker. Panama Canal came into existence due to U.S. winning the relvution and was rewarded with a 10 mille wide zone which was built into the Panama.

The Andes Mountains are a barrier to movement into the interior, as a result more settlement has occurred along the eastern and northern coasts.

2. What are the two main purposes for which the plains and grasslands of the region are used?
Plains and grasslands are used for raising livestock and farming.

3. What are the three major island groups of the Caribbean?
The Greater Antilles, The Lesser Antilles, and The Bahamas are the three major island groups of the Caribbean.

The Greater Antilles is rich in natural gas, and as a result, The Greater Antilles's economy has had a huge impact on it's land, by earthquakes and air pulltuion.

Savannas are most common in tropical climate zones. (Brazil, Colombia, Argentina)

Each climate zones contains certain vegetation due to the climate. So farmers can grow different types of vegetation in certain climate temps.

7. What is the dominant vegetation of the Amazon river basin?
The dominant vegetation in the Amazon river basin is forests or rain forests.

8. What is the main disadvantage of the slash-and-burn method of growing crops?
The soil is no loner fertil and nothing can grow there anymore; trees are needed to get rid of carbon in the air so the more trees are burned down the more carbon is left in the air providing more global warning.

9. What factors tend to pull people into the cities from their farms?
The "pull" factors include higher-paying jobs, better schools, and better medical care.

10. What are some of the disadvantages of tourism in the region?
An obvious gap between rich tourists and less well-off local residents; this has produced resentment and hostility in places such as Jamaica in the Caribbean and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. Governments can run up large public debts by borrowing money to build tourist facilities.

1) What climate zones and vegetation exists in your country?
Chile has mediterranean, marine west coast, and desert climate. 
The vegetation consists of low shrubs, small trees, forests, and savanna.

Chile has abundle of copper, nittrate, and timber; land farming; the Loa longest river system in Chile.

3) What do most people in your country do for a living?
Most people who live in rural areas work in fruit or fishing industries.

Santiago is the largest city.

5) What is the capital city?
Santiago is the capital of Chile.

Questions about Water and Latin America

1) What did you learn from the video?  Do you think its fair that a corporation can own a country's water? The idea of owning water in the first place is a stupid idea. That's like saying you own the sky or own the pinecones on the pine tree. Water is a natural resoucre and if anyone owns it, it's the Earth. You cannot own something that they whole world uses and put a price on it. Owning water is a stupid idea! If people are dying over this thought of owning water than our world is not worth saving!

2) Do you think the people of Bolivia had a right to react the way they did?
I feel they had every right to do what they did. In fact, if I were one of them I would do everything in my power to get the higher ups to realize that what they are doing is stupid and there's no common sense in it. People are dying over this matter of "owning water" water cannot be owned and people who do own water are nothing, but satan in suits!

Geography affect settlement in Latin America by helping South America republics win their independence from Spain.

Spanish is the second common language spoken.

Christians make up the majority of Americans.

Southern end of Canada and the northern end of the United States.
2) What areas in Canada and the U.S. have areas of permafrost?
Much of the rest of Canada and Alaska have subarctic climate; some places there is permafrost.
3) What kind of climates do not exist in Canada?
Canada does not have warm climates due to being at a high latitude.
4) Which two states in the U.S. have tropical climates?
Hawaii and southern Florida have tropical climates.
5) Where are the Everglades located?
Southern Florida has the Everglades which is huge swampland that covers 4,000 square miles.
