1)   What crop did settlers first grow in Brazil and what effect did it have on the makeup of the population? Sugar cane and causes most settlement in Brazil to be on the coast.

2)   How do Brazil’s rivers contribute to its wealth?
     Hydroelectric power.

3)   How large is Brazil’s economic power?
      Brazil is 7th in the world.

4)   What is Brazil’s religion and language?
      Brazil's population is mostly Catholic and the language is Portuguese.

5)   What have been some obstacles to democratic government in South America?
      Underdelevop economic, a lot of provetry, and a huge gap between rich and poor. 

6)   What is South America’s greatest economic success story (other than Brazil)?
      Chile, because they educate their people (lietarcy rate high), and good exports of goods.

7)   Who were the Inca?
      Descendants of people who may have crossed a land bridge from Siberia to Alaska.

8)   What major groups blended into the area of the Caribbean?
      African (because of the slaves) and European along with Native people.

9)   What are some major sources of income in the economies of Central America and the Caribbean? Tourism, exporting goods, gold and silver, and commerical farming.

10)                   What are some forms of music that have evolved in the region of the Caribbean? African , Spain, Caribbean music. (Reggae and Calypso)

11)                   Why is the Panama Canal important?  How did it come into existence?
                 Huge economic money maker, and makes trade and transportion a lot more quicker. Panama Canal came into existence due to U.S. winning the relvution and was rewarded with a 10 mille wide zone which was built into the Panama.

12)                   What is the largest city in Mexico?  In South America?  In the World?
                 Mexico=Mexico City, South America=Sane Poe, In the World=Tokyo.

13)                   What is the most important part of Mexico’s economy today?
                 Agriculture.

14)                   How have the Andes Mountains affected settlement in South America?
                 Pushes people to the east coast.

15)                   Why is the Amazon river important?
               Good trade route, and moves more water than the seven largest rivers combined.

16)                  What two countries does the Orinoco River drain?
                Venezula and Cloumbia.

17)                  What is the dominant vegetation of the Amazon river basin?
                Forest (Rain forests (trees))

18)                   What are some of the advantages and disadvantages of tourism to the South American community? Increase in jobs and differences between wealth and povtery, which causes slums of cities to appear.
