Why is the U.S. a leader in agricultural production? The U.S. bears more fertile soil than any other country in the world; being the leading producer in agricultural.
In what industry do most American work? Manufactoring.
What role did water play in the development of the Midwest? Drainage or a transportion system.
How did CA become the nation's most populous state?
What are the sub-regions of Canada? The Atlantic Provinces, Core Provinces-Quebec and Ontario, Prairie Provinces, and Pacific Province and the Territories.
Where do most Canadians live? Most Canadian's live along the border of the U.S.
How is Canada's government different from the U.S.? Canada doesn't have a president, only a prime minster.
How did the French and Indian War change America?
What is Canada's largest export? Fish is Canada's largest export.
What languages dominate Canada? French, english, or French Canadian.
Why are the Prairie Provinces so important to the Canadian economy? It is part of the Great Plains in North America, and produces most of Canada's natural gas and eocnomic growth.

Farming was the second most average American job in the early days of the U.S.
2) In what three areas is the U.S. a world leader?
Agricultural goods, manufactured goods, and global trade.
3) What percentage of the world's corn do U.S farmers supply?
40% of the world's corn.
4) What is the second mostly commonly spoken language in the U.S.?
Spanish is the second common language spoken.
5) To what religious group do the majority of Americans belong?
Christians make up the majority of Americans.
6) What are some American cultural elements that have influenced the world?
Native Americans, early European settlers, and jazz along with the blues etc.
7) Where do the majoritiy of Americans live?
In the U.S., more than 307 million people lived in the U.S.
8) What is the gender breakdown of the workforce in America?
There are 60% of American adults of working age, almost half of them are women.
9) Where are the industrial centers in the United States?
Automoblie manufacturing, chemical, food processing, high-tech industry, oil and gas, shipbuilding, textiles, and farm products are the industrial centers of the U.S.

Chapter 5 Section 2 Questions

1) Which parts of Canada and the United States have the most similar climate?
Southern end of Canada and the northern end of the United States.
2) What areas in Canada and the U.S. have areas of permafrost?
Much of the rest of Canada and Alaska have subarctic climate; some places there is permafrost.
3) What kind of climates do not exist in Canada?
Canada does not have warm climates due to being at a high latitude.
4) Which two states in the U.S. have tropical climates?
Hawaii and southern Florida have tropical climates.
5) Where are the Everglades located?
Southern Florida has the Everglades which is huge swampland that covers 4,000 square miles.
6) Within which climate would you most likely find a rain forest?
Tropical climate.
7) What kinds of extreme weather occur often in the Great Plains?
Tornados happen a lot in the Great Plains. (Tornado Alley)
8) What areas are most at risk for flooding?
Lands along the Mississippi river have a high risk of flooding whenever it rains.
9) What areas suffer hurricanes?
Atlantic and Gulf coasts have suffer hurricanes.
10) What climate regions do the U.S. and Canada share?
They both have frigid winter temperatures and tundra.
11) What climate regions are found in the U.S. but not in Canada?
Climates that are moderate is not found in Canada, along with dry climates, and milder climates and tropical climates.
